Vice Mayor

Eve Marie Little took office as Newark City Council Member on December 12, 2024.

Eve traveled all over the world before happily settling in the great city of Newark. She was born in a small town in West Texas and lived in Guadalajara, Mexico with her mother’s side of the family every summer during her childhood. She attended Texas A&M University pursuing a degree in International Studies and double minors in Cultural Anthropology and Spanish. During her undergraduate, she worked as a translator in Quito, Ecuador and in hospitality marketing for a sustainable tourism hotel chain in Lima, Peru. Upon graduating, she moved to Seoul, South Korea where she taught at Kookmin University, and later to Khao-Lak, Thailand where she worked in the tourism industry.

She returned to Texas and pursued her master's degree at the University of Houston—Hilton School of Hotel and Restaurant Management with a focus on rite of passage tourism and market segmentation. She then continued her studies with postgraduate work at Ecole Hoteliere in Lausanne, Switzerland.

She has a vast work history, including Event Director at NASA Johnson Space Center, Director of Consular Affairs at the Consulate of Ghana, President of the Texas Dragon Boat Association, and many more. But at the end of the day, her main focus in life is on helping others achieve their goals. She currently is a college professor at California State University—East Bay and Mission College as well as teaches vocational college courses to inmates at the Elmwood Correctional Facility.

She is super involved in helping the community and her background includes serving as a volunteer on the Boy Scouts of American Golden Gate Council, Mission Peak District Council Member, Cub Scout Day Camp Director, Houston Jaycees, Houston Consular Forum, San Francisco Bay Brainiacs and Dive Pirate Foundation.

Eve’s goals for the Newark community are to increase communication within the city and our residents and offer more activities and events specifically for children and seniors. She feels that education and wisdom are two of the best gifts you can give anyone for their future.  She will always be there smiling and happy to chat with you about any ideas you have for our city!
