Recreation & Community Services Director

Nick Cuevas was promoted to Recreation & Community Services Director January of 2024. He joined the City of Newark in March 2013 as an Aquatics Coordinator and progressed through various roles, becoming Recreation & Community Services Supervisor in 2019 and Recreation & Community Services Manager in 2021. Prior to Newark, Mr. Cuevas held positions with varrious other cities and universitys working largly in Aquatic operations. 

He now oversees all operations for the Recreation & Community Services Department, managing various facilities including the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center, The Clark W. Redeker Newark Senior Center, Newark Community Center, Newark Childcare Center Annex, and the soon-to-be Newark Resources Center located at Ash Street Park.

Mr. Cuevas holds a Master's in Public Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He is also a graduate of mutiple leadership academies and an proud member of the Newark Optimist Club.
