Julie Del Catancio is a proud long-term resident of Newark, California, where she and her husband, Jeff - her best friend since middle school, raise their daughter. Julie Del Catancio enjoys arts and crafts and spending time with her family, friends, dog, and cat. In her free time, she loves to exercise and play pickleball. 

Ms. Catancio is an active member of the Newark community. Her daughter attends public school in the Newark Unified School District, where she is a dedicated educator. Julie Del Catancio is passionate about supporting families, sports, safety, seniors, and community initiatives.

Education: 

Julie Del Catancio earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law, a Master of Science in Administration from Kansas University, a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California Santa Cruz, and a thesis on reserve at UC Berkeley. She is a licensed attorney and credentialed educator. 


Government/Public Service Experience

Julie Del Catancio’s public service career is deeply rooted in her commitment to Newark. She served as a Newark Planning Commissioner, where she gained extensive experience in addressing housing, infrastructure, and community development projects. Her work on the Commission allowed her to contribute meaningfully to Newark’s Capital Improvement Plan and other key initiatives.

Julie Del Catancio’s background as an attorney has further informed her approach to governance, emphasizing fiscal responsibility, collaboration, and transparency.


Community Service

Julie Del Catancio’s dedication to Newark extends beyond her role in government. She is a Board of Director of the Newark Memorial Parent Teacher Association, on the School Site Council, and she is a Newark Rotary and Optimist Club member.  Julie Del Catancio is a volunteer for numerous school events, and an advocate for youth and senior programs. Her volunteerism includes participation in Science Days, beautification projects, cultural assemblies, and the Newark Days Parade. She received a gold medal presidential award for her community service. 

Julie Del Catancio’s leadership reflects her belief that community engagement and collaboration are essential to creating a vibrant and inclusive Newark.
